do not turn your cheek in scorn away from people, nor walk proudly on the earth; allah does not love the proud and the boastful. (18) | | وَلَا تُصَعِّرْ خَدَّكَ لِلنَّاسِ وَلَا تَمْشِ فِي الْأَرْضِ مَرَحًا إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ كُلَّ مُخْتَالٍ فَخُورٍ ﴿18﴾ |
walk modestly, and lower your voice; the most hideous of voices is the braying of the donkey. (19) | | وَاقْصِدْ فِي مَشْيِكَ وَاغْضُضْ مِن صَوْتِكَ إِنَّ أَنكَرَ الْأَصْوَاتِ لَصَوْتُ الْحَمِيرِ ﴿19﴾ |
do you not see how allah has subjected to you all that is in the heavens and the earth, and lavished on you his visible and unseen favors? yet some people would argue about allah without knowledge, or guidance, or an illuminating book. ' (20) | | أَلَمْ تَرَوْا أَنَّ اللَّهَ سَخَّرَ لَكُم مَّا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ وَأَسْبَغَ عَلَيْكُمْ نِعَمَهُ ظَاهِرَةً وَبَاطِنَةً وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يُجَادِلُ فِي اللَّهِ بِغَيْرِ عِلْمٍ وَلَا هُدًى وَلَا كِتَابٍ مُّنِيرٍ ﴿20﴾ |
when it is said to them: 'follow what allah has sent down, ' they reply: 'no, rather we will follow that which we found our fathers upon. ' what! even though satan is inviting them to the punishment of the fire! (21) | | وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّبِعُوا مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ قَالُوا بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ آبَاءنَا أَوَلَوْ كَانَ الشَّيْطَانُ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى عَذَابِ السَّعِيرِ ﴿21﴾ |
he who surrenders himself to allah and is a good doer, has grasped the firmest handle. to allah the issue of affairs return. (22) | | وَمَن يُسْلِمْ وَجْهَهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَهُوَ مُحْسِنٌ فَقَدِ اسْتَمْسَكَ بِالْعُرْوَةِ الْوُثْقَى وَإِلَى اللَّهِ عَاقِبَةُ الْأُمُورِ ﴿22﴾ |
as for those who disbelieve, do not let their disbelief grieve you, to us they shall return and we will tell to them what they did. allah has knowledge of what is innermost in their chests. (23) | | وَمَن كَفَرَ فَلَا يَحْزُنكَ كُفْرُهُ إِلَيْنَا مَرْجِعُهُمْ فَنُنَبِّئُهُم بِمَا عَمِلُوا إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَلِيمٌ بِذَاتِ الصُّدُورِ ﴿23﴾ |
we give to them a little enjoyment for awhile, and then will compel them to a tremendous punishment. (24) | | نُمَتِّعُهُمْ قَلِيلًا ثُمَّ نَضْطَرُّهُمْ إِلَى عَذَابٍ غَلِيظٍ ﴿24﴾ |
if you ask them: 'who has created the heavens and the earth? ' they will reply: 'allah. ' say: 'praise belongs to allah! ' but most of them do not have knowledge. (25) | | وَلَئِن سَأَلْتَهُم مَّنْ خَلَقَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضَ لَيَقُولُنَّ اللَّهُ قُلِ الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ بَلْ أَكْثَرُهُمْ لَا يَعْلَمُونَ ﴿25﴾ |
to allah belongs all that is in the heavens and the earth. he is the rich, the praised. (26) | | لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ هُوَ الْغَنِيُّ الْحَمِيدُ ﴿26﴾ |
if all the trees in the earth were pens, and the sea, with seven more seas to replenish it (with ink), the words of allah would never end. allah is the almighty, the wise. (27) | | وَلَوْ أَنَّمَا فِي الْأَرْضِ مِن شَجَرَةٍ أَقْلَامٌ وَالْبَحْرُ يَمُدُّهُ مِن بَعْدِهِ سَبْعَةُ أَبْحُرٍ مَّا نَفِدَتْ كَلِمَاتُ اللَّهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزِيزٌ حَكِيمٌ ﴿27﴾ |
